If you could be born in a different time period
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 27th, 2020 at 12:30 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

So here's an interesting one. We have members from all different generations here on the community, so I'm very curious to see what people's thoughts are here.

For me, it would be the 70s, only because I'd be in high school during the 80s. I've always been a big fan of the 80s, personally.

If you could be born in a different time era, which would you choose, and why?

  Coronavirus Mask Laws
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 26th, 2020 at 1:25 PM - Forum: Current Events - Replies (4)

What are the mask laws in your area or country?

Here, it depends on the state or city primarily. In North Carolina, it’s required, but a lot of people are refusing to wear them. (People here don’t like being told what to do Finna )

What are the laws where you live?

  Makestation Fire / Ocean Themes
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 25th, 2020 at 10:44 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (7)

Hello everyone,

We're working on some new mockups design wise. Currently, we have Makestation Light and Monokai (Makestation Dark). I'm working on a third variant with a non-blue color scheme. This one will be called "Makestation Fire."

It's a work in progress. We're looking for feedback, and more tweaks will be done in the coming days. Smile

And don't forget that we will eventually have a color selector built into the light theme as well. Currently, Monokai has a beta accent color if you're looking to try it out! (Courtesy of Lain) Cool

Makestation Fire (beta):

Makestation Ocean:

This is a backport of our 2015 theme, built upon the modern responsive template set. You can access it under "Makestation 2015" or "Makestation Ocean" in the theme selector.

Core T7 and Station Green will be removed soon! They are based on old template sets. We can very easily backport them if ever needed in the future.

Might need to see an ENT
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 24th, 2020 at 11:44 PM - Forum: Lifestyle - Replies (17)

I hurt my voice several years back. I was very sick for several months straight, and even after getting well, it almost a year for my voice to fully recover.

Ever since, I've had some trouble. I've become good at working around it and it has improved over time. However, just a few weeks back, it has taken a turn for the worse. It hurts to talk. I've lost range and stamina. I do singing lessons for hours at a time, and I've had to reschedule them and haven't been able to teach them because of my voice problems.

Not really sure what it could be. Undecided

They're saying it could be a vocal cord hemorrhage (rupturing a blood vessel on the vocal cords), but healing these either requires surgery or weeks of complete, total silence. Neither of which is really an option. In which case, I'll be having issues for months before I'll even be close to being back to normal. If it's not a hemorrhage, it could be nodules or otherwise, but that's unlikely given that I am very careful to avoid techniques that cause those.

I talk heavily for my job, so hopefully it's able to hold up. I'll find out in a couple weeks I suppose.

Good morning, today was Ben's round to his favorite wind turbine. And today there was a technician here who was very, very nice, understood that Ben is autistic, let him calmly inspect the inside of the windmill
He also gave him a warning sign

Do you have a personal website?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 23rd, 2020 at 4:54 AM - Forum: Web Design & Internet - Replies (20)

I'm in the process of building a personal website, namely to put resume-esque content and a few other things on. It will more or less be a static website for job-hunting and portfolio purposes. Should be relatively easy to make and will come in handy.

It's also good to have your personal name registered as a domain. You never know... Finna

Does anyone here have a personal website for this purpose? If so, did you namely put some quick information and a portfolio on it, or did you expand it to include a blog and so forth as well?

  All nighters
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 23rd, 2020 at 12:42 AM - Forum: College Board - Replies (5)

I've met a number of college students who have claimed they have gone entire semesters without ever taking all-nighters. Seems very difficult to pull off. During finals season especially, it's difficult to avoid them completely, but some say they can do it.

I've also met students who take multiple sleepless nights during the course of the week. I used to be in that crowd and could do it with ease. It's harder for me now than it used to be. Finna

Nowadays, I usually run only a handful of all nighters during the course of a semester. It's always better to get at least a few hours of sleep, even if studying into very late hours of the night. During exams especially, those few hours of sleep make a huge difference in the ability to recall information.

How is your sleep schedule when exams come around?
