Hello all, 

We have enabled HTTPS/SSL security for the entire MS community. We ended up using Certbot (as suggested by Thomas and S3_gunzel) - which massively simplified the process compared to the failed attemps for us to do so before. Everything worked without a hitch.

   

The site should be much more secure on public networks and will no longer display the "not secure" message on Chrome. It is also faster (HTTP/2.0) than before. That being said, we had to change a number of CSS/JS/Image URLs througout the theme, so there might have been a couple we missed. If anything looks incorrect or you get a "mixed content" error, let us know in this thread and we will address it promptly!

Last Christmas my dad gifted me his Seamaster Professional 2531.80. He couldn't bear the thought of me spending $5000 on a watch so he was like, "Here take mine." I'm lucky enough to live near an Omega boutique so I went over and swapped out the metal bracelet for a blue NATO strap.

This year I was looking for something a bit classier so I opted for the leather band and deployANT clasp. They both fit wonderfully and the clasp is super comfortable. I highly recommend!

Hey guys, I already have my Audi S6 Performance at 726 hp, and I also have an APR exhaust (Made in USA) installed. I registered all the modifications, the law here is very strict, including the APR exhaust, now it would still have the downpipes, these are the pipes with catalytic converters that run from the 2 turbos down to the X-pipe or center pipe. Unfortunately, APR has stopped the production of the downpipes (I sent an email to America for the mail traffic.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We have discontinued all downpipes and stage 2 for downpipe cars, unfortunately there are no more left and production has been stopped for some months now.

Pretty much anyone running a website has probably used Filezilla or another FTP client (or at least SCP) to do virtually all of their file management. And it's for good reason; Those tools are made specifically for the job. However, there are situations when you need to edit or change files on your website "on the go" - where you don't have access to your FTP client. And in those situations, you might want an easy GUI web-based fallback. 

Shared hosting users have cPanel, which provides all of these tools built-in. VPS users don't have these tools by default. I personally use Tiny File Manager to handle this, and it's a surprisingly simple flat-file script that is very elegant and streamlined. It can do everything that the standard cPanel tools can, and it's been pretty stable and quite powerful at the same time.

Granted, it probably won't ever replace Filezilla/SCP as a daily driver, but it's certainly a worthy fallback for when you need a backup. It can definitely come in handy...

Because we talk about so many languages on here... why not one about one of my favorite languages, assembly, the bottom level language that machines use (well one step above 1/0 but still...).

when you master assembly you master any machine, without plugins, or compatibility libraries, or anything.

it's directly communicating with hardware and it works insanely fast.

So what experiences have you guys had with ASM code?

As a musician, I'm always practicing and trying to get the "perfect take" on anything I ever press the record button on. I've come to realize that my best take is usually my first (or maybe my second) take on anything I ever do. After that, it goes downhill. 

Practicing too much can be a detriment to the overall feel of the finished product. It sounds sterile, too rehearsed, and too precise. I've been running into this problem quite a bit as of late. I'll do several takes and they all sound so alike that it's hard to tell the difference. Even on vocals (where each take *should* be quite different in terms of its feel) they all have variations in little pitch imperfections, and even the transitions between notes and the enunciations are almost exactly alike. 

Perfect is the enemy of good, as they say. And it's very true in the form of anything creative. You try to make it so good that you lose sight of the little details that make it feel alive, less precise, or more human. Too much practice or thought stifles creativity. 

The same goes for writing, or for any art form. Your best work is almost always spontaneous, unrehearsed, unpracticed, out-of-the-blue. As soon as you try to recreate it, you lose the mindset that got you there to begin with. Always capture ideas when they hit you, because they might not come back quite the same way again.

Things have changed far more drastically than we ever imagined possible. In an era where we are more connected than ever, we feel more alone. And in a time where we ought to be less tribal and more united, we become even more tribal, more separated, and more angry at those who do not think as we do. 

That being said, it has huge advantages. In a global pandemic, we can stay in touch with people in ways that would have never been possible in 1918. We can stay connected with people who live across the world, and we can have conversations on this very forum itself, which would not have been possible 20 years ago (technically it was, but forums back then were nothing compared to what we see today). 

Never before, in the entire history of the world, have we been this inundated with technology at the rate for which we have developed it. We have access to almost all of the world's information at our fingertips. Even "secret" information is not-so-secret when it can be found, leaked, or hacked into. We simply have access to information at a rate we have never before seen. 

And all of that is to say that those of us alive today will change the world forever. We will see the world shift in unimagineable ways through the remainder of our lifetimes, and 20 years from now, the world will not be recognizable compared to what we see today.
