  Forumcraft (Minecraft Forum)
Posted by: Acko - June 30th, 2013 at 1:44 AM - Forum: Other Communites & Promotion - Replies (4)

Forumcraft (name subject to change) is intended to be an alternative to the cluttered minecraftforums.net. As many of us know, minecraftforums.net is blessed with curse, and in turn is ad-ridden. Even the backgrounds are ads. Also don't forget the many rude users there. It isn't a very nice place at all.

At first, we are only going to have Minecraft Boards and only a few off-topic boards. This is because I want the forum to fulfill its niche before expanding to other topics.

So any minecraft players are free to hop on in and check it out!

  Getting the word out?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 29th, 2013 at 4:26 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (3)

Makestation has been around for a little longer than a month now, and we already are approaching 2500 posts. We've definitely grown quite a bit since launch, but obviously one of the hardest parts of launching a new community is getting new members to join. I've been promoting through signature links at many places I am active at, and we've gotten hundreds of visits through signature links so far. (Something as simple as "Makestation.net - creativity showcase community " seems to get quite a few visits when put in the signature. )

Even though traffic has increased, the word hasn't really begun to get out at very many places yet. Do you guys have any suggestions on where we can promote Makestation and get the word out?

  Good IDE to use?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 29th, 2013 at 4:17 PM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (32)

As many of you probably already know, I do quite a bit of PHP programming, as well as additonal programming in some other languages. Currently I do all of my PHP development on a live server since my localhost tends to screw things up at times. Notepadd++ and filezilla are all that I have to work with at this point though.

I've been considering getting an IDE to help with things such as auto-indenting code, etc..., but I'm not really sure which one will work best for PHP. Any suggestions?

  Rate your local weather service
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 28th, 2013 at 7:41 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Personally, my local weather station is alright, but like most weather stations they are always wrong past about two days ahead in the forecast. I'll rate it 3/5.

How would you rate your local weather service?

  The last poster
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 28th, 2013 at 7:26 PM - Forum: Forum Games - Replies (2)

This game is pretty simple. At a time which has already been decided, I will close this thread. The goal is to be the last poster to have posted before this thread has closed. The winner of this round will get a "stamp of blessings" badge added to their profile.

I'll kick the conversation off...

SMFnew is not much fun to work with. They are still down, and unfortunately they have given no real info of when they will be back online... sigh.

  Site contests?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 28th, 2013 at 1:41 AM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (3)

I've decided to do makestation site contests fairly soon. Some of them will be posting related, and others will be project related (most creative project, etc...)

I won't be able to launch them until later next month. I'll be out of town quite a bit over the next coming couple of weeks, so it doesn't make sense to start them quite yet, but I figured it'd be good to get discussion rolling. What would you like to see in makestation competitions?

  Dumb Laws
Posted by: titanicbuff - June 27th, 2013 at 11:59 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (7)

Heres a fun thread- we'll look at our government at work with stupid laws from around the world.

Colorado law states:
One may not mutilate a rock in a state park.
And you can get a DUI on a horse:
It is illegal to ride a horse while under the influence.

  Fiction vs Nonfiction
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 27th, 2013 at 11:45 PM - Forum: Creative Writing - Replies (14)

Personally, I like both, but if I had to choose between them, I'd go with nonfiction. What's your preference?

Be sure to vote in the poll!

  Console vs. PC gaming
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 27th, 2013 at 11:43 PM - Forum: Other Games - Replies (22)

Personally, I'm not too much of a gamer, but when I do play games I prefer to play PC games. What's your preference?

  Best VPS hosts?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 27th, 2013 at 11:18 PM - Forum: Web Design & Internet - Replies (1)

Personally, I use Ramnode, and plan on sticking with them. I know that there are quite a few VPS hosts out there though. Anyone else have any experience with other good VPS hosts?
