Google In Hot Water Over Big Security Hole In Chrome

#1
This is sort of funny - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/07...19233.html

A writer wrote an article about a "big" security hole in Google Chrome. Personally, I don't think it's a security hole. It is as designed. I bet FireFox and other web browsers do the same. With Chrome, it is possible to show the passwords that you saved with a simple press of a button. That's one of the many reasons why I never save any passwords in Google Chrome (or any web browser).

Another way to check out saved passwords is by entering this URL into the URL Address bar in Google Chrome - chrome://settings/passwords (that's the URL that you see when you go to the saved passwords page in Chrome - still, it is as designed. No "big" security hole there).

Of course, one can set a master password to prevent this.

What are your thoughts?

Personally, I agree. It's not really a security hole. It's more of a designed feature of Chrome. I generally am not too worried since I keep my computer locked at all times, but the insecurity of Windows 7 does make me a little nervous.

I do think perhaps Chrome should have a few more features that make it more difficult for people to simply see all saved passwords with a click of a button.

Eh, I don't even use the browser for my passwords. And this is not a hole, I think it is obviously working as designed.
I mod Paradox games. Click here to see my many adventures in doing that.

I don't care how they same my passwords. I just care that it doesn't freeze up on a slow computer, like explorer. I switched from Explorer to chrome recently--and the difference on a slow computer is AMAZING!

Internet Explorer has to be one of the worst browsers I have ever used. It has improved somewhat, but it is still a mess and a real pain to use.

The only reason I ever really use it is because at one forum, I own a secondary account for awards nominations, and it just make sense to have it save the password so I don't have to log out and log in every time I check for nominations. Every time I use Internet Explorer, it only makes me more glad we have alternatives haha.

Setting a master password in Chrome should solve this issue.

I use a password on my laptop so anyone around the house wouldn't be able to access it without my permission. Still, I don't save passwords, so... yeah.

Can you tell me what your computer's specifications are and what version of IE you're using?

IE10 is a major improvement over 8 and 9. On my computer it never freezes up, though it is a gaming computer so that may not be too surprising. Still, I just like Chrome a lot more.
