People actually fight for it there? My god.
People get antsy here and walmart is a war zone, but besides people cutting in line and being rude, we haven't had anyone try to fight that I've seen. I suppose we're lucky down here.

Yeah, my city's population is arrogant rich yuppies and college students for the most part with a mixture of other after that...
If only it wasn't illegal to carry the bow staf on my back, I'd go all rafiki on them for trying to take stuff from my cart... Or at least take out a ruler... Thwack, bad human, I'm buying this for my family and I only need one, I don't need to do without because you're having a crisis.

We're all in the same boat together. And yet everyone's being a**holes about it and jumping to conclusions. It's sad.

Right? And I'm surprised the supply chain hasn't been fixed yet.

The issue is that... they have to ramp up their toilet paper production, and as soon as toilet paper is no longer something that we have a shortage of, people will stop buying it and will start using the stockpiles they have at home. So they're gonna ramp up all this production and have it go flat in two months.
Masks and hand sanitizer is a different story, can't find those either.

Speaking of hand Sanitizer, that's one thing I was surprised about, several breweries retooled themselves to produce it.

It’s basically alcohol, so I can see that. Still none on the shelves. We’ve been having trouble keeping it at work and ran out, so we’re back to good ole hand washing for the moment.

Don't let the virus drive you crazy, the economy lives and benefits only from it e.g. disinfectants are currently sold out everywhere. The soap should actually have disappeared from the shelves. It is the much better virus killer. Also applies to smartphone cleaning!
Virologists emphasize it again and again: Those who do not have a weakened immune system and are not in contact with particularly vulnerable or already infected people do not need a disinfectant against the new coronavirus. Washing hands is enough, says Deutschlandfunk Nova reporter Sophie Stigler.
Soap as an all-rounder
Soap is the all-rounder when it comes to eliminating pathogens: it destroys all viruses, bacteria and even some parasites. It's different with disinfectants, because not all disinfectants help against all viruses, says Sophie Stigler.
"Not all disinfectants help against all viruses. Soap helps against all viruses, including bacteria and even some parasites."
Sophie Stigler, Deutschlandfunk Nova reporter
Destroying viruses such as the corona virus with disinfectants only works if the agent contains very high-proof alcohol. But even then, the viruses would have to be drowned in alcohol to break them, says Australian chemistry professor Pall Thordarson.
You would need a relatively large amount of gel or spray for this. According to the WHO, disinfectant wipes are not suitable for the hands at all and do no more than rub off with wipes without disinfectants, explains Sophie Stigler.
Soap destroys the virus' fatty tissue
In the end, the soap does what it does to our fingers when it destroys viruses: it removes the greasy dirt. The corona virus is also enclosed in a greasy shell, which is then broken up by the soap molecules. The virus bursts and breaks.
I myself work for the fire brigade and we take "only" soap, wash it with warm water and soap for at least 50 seconds!
