Needless to say, Ubuntu has changed quite a lot over the past few years, especially since the launch of Unity. Ubuntu, once a favorite among many linux distributions, has received much new criticism. At the same time, it remains the most popular linux distribution with a rapidly growing user base. What does this mean for the future of the distribution?

Personally, I feel that Ubuntu will continue to grow, but I am keeping my eyes out for alternatives. While the rather short support cycle of Fedora isn't the most comfortable thing ever, pretty much everything else about Fedora is much better than that of Ubuntu, and it is a much cleaner, better distribution overall. Many other distributions are rising up as well.

What are your thoughts?

Personally, I'm a huge linux fan. It's also much nicer with RAM usage, making it a good option for older computers as well. With distributions such as Ubuntu, openSUSE, and Fedora, Linux is no longer something only an expert can use. My personal preference is Fedora, as Ubuntu seems to be losing its quality a bit.

Personally, mine is hard to even share. It was pure HTML, written when I was in elementary school. Absolutely no CSS or PHP whatsoever. Thankfully, I no longer have the files

I'm not particularly great at graphics design, but I still enjoy creating whatever I can in the GIMP.

In the past decade, we went from expensive Pentium 4s to quad-core i7s. We went from 1GB of RAM being considered too much to 8GB of RAM in many home computers. With such a trend of rapid progression in technology, there is no telling what will be coming next.

What do you expect technology to become over the next decade?

Personally, I'm not much of a gamer, but when I do play games, I love trying interesting stuff out. If you get bored with the hard-coded gameplay variables, such as gameplay speed, CheatEngine might be for you. It allows you to change any gameplay variables of a running executable at runtime, including gameplay speed. It usually doesn't work as well with online games, but it's still a lot of fun to play around with.

Recently, a neat device called the Rasberry Pi arrived on the technology scene. It's literally a pocket sized computer capable of running a full installation of Linux. It's fairly modest (don't expect dual-core 3.3ghz CPUs), but more than capable of doing many basic things, including running printer servers, serving as a web server for static content, or if you have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor, literally serving as a home computer.

The cost is also pretty impressive. $25/35 is all it will cost, depending on whether you want 256MB or 512MB of RAM. I haven't purchased mine yet, but I definitely think these little devices seem pretty flexible, especially at their low cost. I plan on getting one as soon as I get the money together for one. In my opinion, it's a lot of power for the price of a microcontroller.
