We are online folks! I'm going to be going through and digging up the old admin passwords to see what I can do to get things going again.

  Can Poland into space?
Posted by: Acko - June 10th, 2013 at 2:58 AM - Forum: Forum Games - Replies (49)

The goal here is to get Poland into space. Use any method you can to get Poland into space. Example:
person 1: I send poland into space by giving it a jetpack!
person 2: I send poland into space by tech rushing to level 72!

I'll start:
I send Poland into space by giving it to NASA!

  Rate your internet service provider
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 10th, 2013 at 12:36 AM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (36)

Personally, considering my internet download speeds are rarely above 1mbps, I can't say that I'm too pleased with my internet service. It never really blacks out completely, and it's faster than dial-up, so I'll rate it 2/5 stars.

How would you rate your ISP?

  Reading - love or hate?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 10th, 2013 at 12:32 AM - Forum: Poll Booth - Replies (6)

Personally, I love reading, whether it's the old classics or newer literature. I'm not exactly the greatest at it, but it's an enjoyable pastime. What's your vote?

  Star Trek vs Star Wars
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 10th, 2013 at 12:30 AM - Forum: Media & Entertainment - Replies (22)

Personally, I've loved both. If I had to pick between them, I'd go with Star wars, but both are undoubtedly classics. What's your vote?

  Software life cycle
Posted by: Acko - June 9th, 2013 at 3:47 PM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (12)

For our coders, what do you think is the best format for the life cycle of a software (e.g. pre-alpha -> alpha -> beta -> gold) or in minecraft's case (/indev/ -> infdev -> alpha/beta basically the same lol -> gold [which is just glorified beta imo]). Or do you even follow a formalized development cycle?

Do you think books are overpriced?
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 9th, 2013 at 4:13 AM - Forum: Creative Writing - Replies (20)

Personally, I've always felt that the better reading out there has always been the classics, and those are usually very inexpensive. Then again, textbooks, "learn to program" guides, etc... Have become surprisingly pricey for what they are.. Often many exhaustive or expansive references are also very expensive, certainly charging much higher prices than what the cost to produce would warrant.

So the debate is, do you think books cost too much? Be sure to vote in the poll!

Do you still use an optical drive?
Posted by: Gmdykfuiygh66476 - June 9th, 2013 at 12:50 AM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (14)

Yes, because some things I do still require them. But I very hardly use them anymore, maybe once every two months. They are becoming very outdated with USB sticks and just downloading software and even games instead of buying a physical copy of them.

You?

  Darth-Apple's photography thread
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 9th, 2013 at 12:15 AM - Forum: Photography - Replies (41)

I'm not exactly the world's greatest photographer, and being limited to a 2MP phone camera doesn't help, but it's still something I've really enjoyed. Picasa has also been of great help in repairing the colors that my camera messes up.

A small tourist town in Tennessee. It's actually at the top of a skylift on a mountain, so the view is quite nice.

From the same town.

Once again Picasa is used to recover some of the color the camera couldn't capture.

This is one of the few pictures I've edited for the intense effect. I think it looks pretty nice, but is quite unrealistic for sure. Tongue

  Talk In Questions?

This is a game where we talk in questions (?)

poster 1: Is this a question?
poster 2: why are you asking?

...and so on.

Why didn't blake pick up my sarcasm in the site questions thread? Tongue

  MP3s vs CDs
Posted by: Darth-Apple - June 8th, 2013 at 6:40 PM - Forum: Media & Entertainment - Replies (52)

Over the past several years, CD players have gradually been going out of style. Few people today don't own an MP3 player, and MP3s can be packed by the hundreds onto a $25 device that fits easily inside of your pocket. With their increasing popularity, are they beginning to replace CDs?

My personal feeling is that CDs will gradually become the next records. They will be the vintage way of playing music, but the trends will gradually shift towards electronic copies of media. However, at least for me, nothing can beat a classic CD of a great album held right in your hands. Thoughts?
