This one is pretty simple. Whoever is the top poster from July 21 to August 11th (roughly three weeks) will be awarded a badge for winning the contest, and their project journal (or any thread of their choice) will be stickied for the next month.

Obviously, if your posts are generally very spam-like in nature, you will be at risk for disqualification. So far everyone here has written some great content, so I'm not really too worried about it.

Welcome back! As you may have noticed, the community looks quite different. We've just completed a conversion to MyBB and are running on our very own, custom designed theme. The new makestation also features the beta version of our very own advanced profiles, and we have many great new features as a part of the conversion.

All posts, users, and everything else was seamlessly converted, and there were no issues. Unlike the conversion to SM4, users do not have to deal with annoying password resets. Everything went very smoothly, so I don't expect any hiccups as a part of the conversion.

I created this website a few days ago. I created it for 2 reasons - 1) I really like to talk about self improvement, 2) I want to make money.

Paradox Development Studio is a Swedish developer best known for Europa Universalis. I myself have a slight addiction to EU3 . Here's a rough outline of all of their series(es):

Europa Universalis (EU): A Grand Strategy based on the period of 1492-1792 (EU1, EU2), 1453-1792 (EU3), 1453-1821 (EU3:NA), 1399-1821 (EU3:IN). Pretty much a mix of all the rest, combining a rather simplified government, economics, military, and colonization system. Without this game, the rest probably wouldn't exist. EU2 has a spin-off, Europa Universalis: Crown of the North. This is a game based off of the predecessor to EU1, Svea Rike III. EU3 has 4 expansions: Napoleon's Ambition (Revolutions, timeline extended to 1821), In Nomine (1399 start, some other things), Heir to the Throne (Better HRE, Better casus belli), Divine Wind (Shogunate, Hordes, many stuff in Asia improved). EU4 is set for release on August 13th, has a timeline of 1444-1800ish.

Hearts of Iron (HoI): A Grand Strategy set from 1936-1947 (HoI1, HoI2, HoI3), 1936-1964 (HoI2: Armageddon). The period of WW2 and early cold war. Has a focus on military and diplomacy, and historical accuracy (More scripted events then say, EU or Vicky). HoI2 has two expansions: Doomsday (Expands upon post WW2, even nuclear war between allies and soviets!), Armageddon (Extends end date to 1964, some fantasy scenarios). HoI3 has three expansions: Semper Fi (Orders of battle), For the Motherland! (War goals, better espionage, performance improvements), Their Finest Hour (Many changes).

Victoria (Vicky): A Grand Strategy set from 1837-1935 (Vicky 2, not sure about Vicky or Vicky:Rev). Has a focus on economics and colonization. Two expansions for Victoria II, A House Divided (American Civil War), and Heart of Darkness (Colonization improvements).

Crusader Kings (CK): A Grand Strategy-Sims-etc. set from 1066-1453 (CK, CK2). Has a focus on feudalism, character building, dynastic issues. Set only in Europe, Maghreb, and Arabia. CK has one expansion: Deus Vult (MANY bug fixes). CK2 has several expansions: Sword of Islam (Play as islamic rulers), Legacy of Rome (Focus on Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire), The Republic (Makes Merchant Republics playable), The Old Gods (867 beginning, play as pagans). Additionally, Sunset Invasion is a DLC scenario which adds a hypothetical Aztec invasion of Europe.

Other games (one-offs):
EU: Rome: Game set from 280-27 BC. Play as the Roman Republic or other nations of Europe at the time. Has a slight focus on character building and senates.
Sengoku: A feudal japan version of Crusader Kings.
March of the Eagles: Napoleonic-era game. Set from 1800-1821.

Since most of these games can make a continuous timeline (Or can with easy modding), one could hypothetically play a 'mega-campaign' (CK->EU->MoTE*->Vicky->HOI). March of the Eagles and HoI, however, aren't very alt-hist friendly. If you are looking for a good mega-campaign, consider checking out one of these Wiz LPs:

Hohenzollern is already finished, and is actually pretty dated. Islam is the Light is still going on, and he is currently in the process of converting from March of the Eagles to Victoria II. Also, don't take the faux islamic nationalism in that thread seriously, it's part of the RP'ing experience .

Hello fellow members of the community,

I have begun work on designing the new version of Makestation, which will be powered by MyBB. After running a poll and asking members, it seems that the community is interested in the conversion, and I think that it will help us significantly as the community grows.

MyBB is much easier to use from an administrator's standpoint as well, so I expect that the new version of makestation will be ready within about one week or so. I don't have any information on downtime info yet, but I do not expect very much downtime when it comes time to release the new community update unless I should happen to run into any technical issues. Also, we will be seamlessly converting all users and posts to the new makestation, so it should be a pretty easy transition.

So, what are your suggestions for the upcoming makestation? Suggestions will definitely be given serious consideration, so feel free to express any concerns or ideas as they come up. I will be keeping you guys updated.

Personally, I am much better with acoustic guitar, but I've always loved to play electric guitar as well. I have a fender stratocaster as my only electric, but it is definitely a very nice guitar and plays well. It also keeps its tune quite well, which is great of course. (An intstrument that won't keep its tune is a real pain to play for sure. Been there, done that, won't go back )

TheTechWiki will be a wiki for everything technology: tutorials, tech info and such. I have the main site up and everything, but it's still under construction. All content is licensed on the site under a non-commercial Creative Commons license, meaning you can re-publish it for non-commercial use only. If you have a tutorial, interesting facts or anything else about technology, feel free to write something up and post it here!

As most of you know, I recently founded makestation as a place for users to share creative works and projects, and so far it has gone very well. Even with me out of town with no internet access for a week, this place has remained active, and so I've definitely been very excited about the progress. I figured that I would "celebrate" by starting a blog here. You may notice that there is now a forum board. I am planning to convert to myBB soon, and since MyBB doesn't have a user blogs plugin and I don't have time to write my own, this will help us adjust.

Anyway, next semester is going to be a very busy semester for me, but I'm expecting to meet a lot of new people and to have an awesome experience. I'm really looking forward to it, all things considered. Of course I'm also looking forward to being able to watch makestation grow into a larger community. I feel like I want makestation to become a community where members can be very open about their own interests, and I feel like we've been taking the right steps as a community. All things considered, all is going well.
