Promotion forums have been around for quite a while, giving webmasters a place to advertise their forums and to get webmaster support, post exchanges, design reviews, etc...
While the idea seems promising, many have also found them to have widely varying degrees of success with their forums. What is your opinion of promotion forums?

They always seem to attract the wrong crowd (ugh, die hard SEOs...) but otherwise I think they are fine.

My biggest problem I suppose is that most of the members are pretty much shared among promotion forums. What's the point if they all share the same memberbase?
I don't think that the niche is necessarily a useless niche. I just think that it's becoming pretty difficult for the majority of promotion forums largely because most of them have very little that is unique to offer nowadays.
