Personally, I like the reputation system. It isn't really good for all forums, but for many forums, it's a great way to recognize active members in the community as long as it isn't abused. I of course always disable negative reputation, and that usually makes it much more difficult to abuse the system.
I still prefer the xenforo-style "Like" system over a reputation system, however.
What is your opinion of the reputation/karma model for forums?

It's a great feature that almost every forum should have!

I like badges
5 year
10 year
stuff like that
its a deep topic, I like discussing this!
I have a vote up (likes) vote down (hide) system in beta
But some people HATE that people can vote down their posts and not be identified.
It crazes them!
Who voted my post down! Show yourself you cowards! (I think its funny)
I still haven't settled on what to do long term..

Honestly I've never really liked the vote down system for forums just because it is so easy to abuse. It works well for places like stackoverflow, but for forums, I agree, people tend to wonder who voted their posts down and why.
I think it goes the same way for user ratings, which many forums have made use of. On one hand, it encourages users to be helpful and kind on the forums, but it puts them at a disadvantage where one person with a personal vendetta could harm a user's public rating significantly.
