gotta wait til I get paid to get the parts, so It's going to be a week before I can order the parts, I've already got the radiator on hand, will be ordering the pulleys and serpentine belt next friday, then installing them and seeing about having the jeep towed to a place to have the frame straightened after hooking up the radiator and giving the engine a proper test (check for leaks etc).

so an update here, I've managed to get the harmonic balancer off!
had to buy an impact wrench and borrow a toolkit from the auto parts store.
getting the new one on... that's less easy because of how the installer tool works, I'm going to try again on sunday with some help, if that doesn't work I'm going to talk to this guy my family knows, he's like some kind of drunken mechanical savant who took parts from 4 different motorcycles to make 1 working motorcycle back in the day so hopefully he can help me with it lol.

The harmonic balancer is a kind of crankshaft pulley on the Jeep 424 Inline 6 4.0 liter engine.

It's keyed and pressed on using this hand tool and I'm hoping this will be the end of my problems.

I managed to replace the harmonic balancer.

@tc4me and yes that's the engine.
the 4.0L Inline 6 as manufactured by AMC/Chrystler.

I'm looking forward to installing the new power steering pump and serpentine belt I picked up today as well.

things are looking up!

if things keep progressing at this pace I should have the vehicle running in a couple weeks!

@Darth-Apple the hillarious thing about getting the harmonic balancer on was needing a 1 1/4 in wrench to turn the bolt on the installer tool.

the wrench is like 2.5ft long and is comically huge.

but the torque that gives is nice.

  ok, great that you made it, read it and saw it, it doesn't work without special tools and a torque wrench. Watch out with the screws! Should be sprayed with WD40 or the same, if it still doesn't work, no VIOLENCE! then some warmth with a welding machine or gas burner

Ya lol, I ended up using an impact wrench and an installer/removal kit to take off the old one.  Then used the kit to install the new one and torque it down to 80lbs as instructed.

Next up is the power steering pump and the serpentine belt.

that's what the jeep looks like right now.

I'm waiting on a pulley and bracket since I found one more problem pulley that's not working right.

after that it's replacing the other two radiators and a set of fans.

and then the grille and bumper.

hopefully it'll pass emissions and I can get it registered street legal again.

The air conditioning cooler doesn't look very good either


and finally look at the track of the front axle, after the car was pressed in the middle, the base frame had been contracted in front of the axle, it is best to set the axle track to zero, hope Google translates it correctly
