guardian: IBM has been invested in linux since at least 2001, but due to user complaints they've stuck with windows... still it's nice that the account I'm on is making the switch lol, even if I have to educate and answer a lot of questions as one of the resident linux guru's

I would bet that's solely on users not willing to learn something new. Microsoft has to take baby-step changes or people freak out. Linux is a whole new world to most people.
