A while back, after MyBB officially removed the old R/S/J section from the site I posted a thread that generated a lot of attention for theme designers. Take a look. Since this thread, I have had an idea in the back of my mind - however was never too sure on how to take the approach at starting something like this. Earlier this month, I decided to give it a try and started working on a project I have kept secret from the majority of people I speak too & see around the forums I visit.
Please note, I want feedback on the design and feel - not the idea.
Just to get things straight, I am not promising this will be released! I am purely trying this out and seeing how it goes, then I will decide if I want to release the website or not, after all it will come with many problems. I also want to remind you that the entire site is run by MyBB - Incredible software.
Anyway, to the point. The design is swaying further and further away from the basic MyBB style that most themes have(Like this one! ) I almost feel like I'm reinventing MyBB
Some playing around with Photoshop

So? What do you guys think? Please give me some feedback, I'm lost for ideas(design wise).

HOLY CRAP MAN THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME!
How are you thinking of actually implementing it? Use some hardcore XThreading?

Actually, I decided to subscribe to Pirata Nervo's site http://forums.mybb-plugins.com/index.php and am using the MyDownload's plugins for the main concept of the market.

Here is a quick snap of the current user profiles. I will be working on creating the content for the profile later on, however am lost on way to style it.

Holy cow, this is pretty freaking slick! I love the user profiles being in tabs. MyBB's profile (still) suck these days, and MyProfile only added features, didn't restyle them.
I like the various register pages with the description of the site on the right. I think that's a smart approach. The various market pages also look pretty professional. Overall, I'd say it's fantastic.
I would love to see more of the forum, but that's just because I'm crazy about forums. This is one of the more in depth MyBB designs I have seen in a while.

That looks awesome, I love the way you are swaying away from the default MyBB look. It's looking almost unreognizeable as MyBB (in a good way!). Hope to see more.

Very interesting. I think there's a lot of potential there too. Harry, I think this is the best idea I've seen you have yet. You're growing up young padawan.

Haha, thanks Guardian, it must be the fact that I am in college now.

Thanks simlink. I have been trying to move away from the default look since the beginning, I'm surprised how it has actually turned out in the end.
OPINIONS PLEASE! Top table, or bottom table style? http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/a3/9b/...a32555.png

I actually don't mind the login modal. I feel the about and register pages are maybe a bit oversimplified given the rest of the design, but then again, I'm not really a huge fan of MyBB's default registration page. It has all the options that are needed on registration, but it slows the process down a bit.
Looking nice so far. Thanks for the update.

I was attempting to actually completely remove the registration page and have it as a modal. <-- Still looking to do this.
The about page will be set out like a feature page, an example of this style is this: https://sellfy.com/features/
The current About page was just so that /about.php actually lead somewhere.

Ah, I see. Make the about page pretty. I like pretty about pages.
The idea of putting the registration on a modal is pretty interesting. It will definitely streamline the process a bit. It may encourage more people to join too, especially if a professional "reasons to join" box is shown neatly on the modal as well.

Yeah, I am looking on removing doing something along the lines of this for the registration modal: http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/39/2e/...aa9a2f.png
Obviously make it look nicer. That is done quickly in photoshop to give a demo.

I like it. I was thinking more along the lines of having the registration fields show on the left, and having the information showing towards the right. Either way, I like the idea.

I like that idea! Hows this?
http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/66/f2/...bfca09.png
On that note, I don't know how I would make the "Why" section targeted for both Buyers and Sellers. I was thinks of having two tabs for the both, but that defeats the point of "Simple registration"... Hmm.

Hmm, the screenshot you posted above is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. I love it!
Regarding buyers and sellers, I'd probably just use two bold headings on the right, one for buyers, and one for sellers. You could write a short, neat paragraph for each, and I think it'd look great.

Hmm, I will have a play around with it later on, see what I can come up with. I'll let you know. Thanks for the suggestions though you've been a great help!

Decided to minimize the login and registration pages a little, removing all the unneeded content was my main concern. I think removing everything was a good idea and having it just as a form. I believe that once the person wants to register and has clicked on Register, they don't want to see "Why you need to sign up with us" section, they just want a quick and simple registration. Hence:
- Modified the top buttons: http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/d1/c6/...7b8178.png
- Login page: http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/b3/eb/...b7a702.png
- Registration page: http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/65/cc/...0ea430.png
I think they still need a little more styling, however I think I am going to stick with this concept for these pages.
I have also replaced the home page login form, with a simple testimonials section. I am not sure whether to keep this or not? I need some suggestions.
- Testimonials: http://speedcap.net/sharing/files/fa/f1/...7d2d73.png
I am also slowly working on finishing the postbit. I am strugling to find places to put things. :3

Moving back onto the profiles, I have decided to go with the top blue line design. I didn't like the thead on the profiles.
