So I've been wanting to try minecraft out, and I have this new iPhone that needs apps. I've heard that the minecraft pocket edition is a bit lacking, but it's only $7, which keeps me from spending too much money when I've already spent way too much this month.
Is the pocket edition any good?

Good for a little fun. Best experience is still PC however.

Thanks for the info. I may try both at some point, but I'll wait until I'm able to replenish my bank account a bit first. I've spent way too much money over the past couple of weeks.
If the pocket edition is decent, it will be nice to have something entertaining to do without having to sit at a PC.

I wouldn't judge the PC version based off of PE, the PC version is a lot more expansive

I have minecraft for the pc and can say for certain there is largely more content. However, the pocket edition boasts a much simpler way to do multiplayer, almost as simple as having two people with the game in the same room. My younger cousin has both versions and still almost solely plays the pocket edition, not just for it's simplicity, but for it's transportability. It's kind of hard to roam around playing minecraft with a clunky PC.

so as a quick side note, the raspberry pi version of pocket edition plays great on my Head up display, no lag, runs smooth, feels a bit odd but not quite as immersive as the occulus/Vive VR mod for the main game.

Ooh, definitely sounds like an opportunity for a market there!

Minecraft, Cyberdeck Eddition, with mods and server compatibility for extra fun.
