Sadly support for it is ending soon. I really did think it was a great piece of software though. I also loved that it didn't eat a whole 2GB of RAM on its own.

XP is great, but no support for DX10, and it's support is ending. To be honest, I loved XP's interface. The 6.0 versions (Vista, 7, 8?) are all graphics in my eyes. And the login and logout sounds were great (also startup for xp)

I think what would be awesome is the XP user interface for Windows 7. That way you get the software compatibility of 7 and the nice interface of XP.ÂÂ

Agreed. I liked XP the best too. If only someone could design a XP skin for Win7

Speaking of XP skins, someone actually designed an XP skin for Ubuntu, which was pretty awesome. The only real disadvantage is that the "start menu" was terrible" but everything else was close to perfection.

Lol I ws thinking someone might've done something similar

I voted for Windows 7.
Windows 8 unfortunately is a really horrible operating system. The new Metro Start screen is really inconvenient in operating the system. Doing simple tasks like Search and Restart now take forever. Windows XP was great during its time, but now can be a pretty big problem for web developers because IE on XP can't render some codes that modern browsers can. I am personally glad Windows XP will no longer be supported by Microsoft come this April, but also somewhat concerned about businesses that'll continue using XP because Microsoft won't be releasing security patches anymore. If they have our confidential information on their XP computers, our information will be vulnerable to hackers that'll find security flaws in the system. The longer time passes, the more vulnerabilities XP will have.

Most larger businesses have already begun the migration to newer technology, but there are certainly still many smaller businesses that have not upgraded their equipment. We shall see what happens.

I'm most concerned about smaller medical clinics. I think I remember seeing the stats for Windows XP share to be around 35-40% still, and I think (no stats to back this up) there's a good portion of these that are small-medium size businesses using legacy equipment. |
