Your first computer specifications

#1
What were the specifications of your first computer?

My first had a 500mhz PIII, 128MB of RAM, windows 98, and 7GB of hard drive space. I soon got a new one with a 40GB hard drive, 256MB of RAM, and 450MHZ PIII (soon upgraded to 600MHZ) and an old install of ubuntu.

What were the specifications of your first computer?

I don't remember, because my first computer was when I was like 7. But my next computer after that (which was 3 years ago) had a 40GB hard drive (which had to be replaced with a 320gb one), 1gb RAM, single core 1.2ghz CPU. It was decent... but my current PC with about 1.6TB storage, 8gb RAM, and quad core CPU at 2.9ghz per core is way better Tongue

Not bad for a first computer. Still doesn't compare well with modern technology though. Man technology evolves fast. Tongue

I miss the days back when low-end computers with a single core like that could actually run Windows well. Those days are long-gone though, and have been gone since Vista came on the scenes. Tongue

Even though my computer has the specs equivalent to a low end toaster, I'll share:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2
RAM: 3.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2
Motherboard: Pegatron Corporation 2A6C
Monitor: HP S1931 (1366x768, 60hz)
GFX: 256MB GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
HDD: 466GB Seagate ST350041 8AS SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
CDD: hp CDDVDW TS-H653R SCSI CdRom Device
SFX: High Definition Audio Device

I used speccy to view the specs. It's a presario slimline.

Wow, that's new... I think I prefer traditional toasters, but you have to admit those do look pretty awesome.

Even seeing the motherboard of that build makes me tempted.

I would build it right now, but as said, the problem is that it costs too much paper.

What's really sad is that technology is evolving so fast that I wouldn't be surprised if the same computer was worth like $500 three years from now.

Sadly yes. But there also are upsides to evolving technology. It's not all that bad.
