Filling your gas tank

#1
I'm pretty well accustomed nowadays to always driving with the empty light on. I can usually get another 30-40 miles or so once it comes on, so I don't see it as really being an issue. Tongue

Do you usually fill your gas tank, or are you more like me and drive only on what you actually need to make it to your destination?

I too wait until it's on its very last drop, not that I drive very much Tongue

Depends. Spring/summer/fall I'll wait till an 1/8th of a tank is left. During the winter I don't let it go much below a 1/4 tank. Don't want to run out of gas during a snowstorm, that's for sure!
As for how much I put in, typically I'll fill it. Depends on how much gas is and my mood. Tongue

I literally put $2.18 in the tank this morning. Yep, it's illogical, but I'm just that cheap. Tongue

I one had $7.xx go in, but the pump kept failing. So I just gave up.
Pulled into another station down the way, no problems. Tongue

That's odd. There is a gas station I regularly use that has a slow pump, but I just avoid that pump now that I know about it.

Yea, I wasn't sure what was going on. Everyone else seemed fine.
And we have one station that is just sooo slow, it's brutal. There's another one that's quicker but it's a bit out of the way. Near a grocery store I frequent, so not too inconvenient, at least.

I'm always afraid something will happen when that light comes on, so I fill up on gas whenever it does. I don't like waiting. Smile even if money's tight. And with gas prices nowadays.

Gas prices here don't even make sense. Sometimes the price drops 8 cents per litre from morning to evening. Then the next morning, it's back up again. Then drops again. Rinse, repeat.

Here we're paying above the equivalent of $5/US gallon. It hurts.

It's around US $3.65/gallon where I am. It's not too bad yet, but summer is coming.

My wife freaks out because she's at a quarter of a tank and I'm telling her she has plenty of time. Tongue

I usually run it below a quarter of a tank, then fill it all the way up. Unless the gas is expensive, then I'll do just enough to get me to another station.

I usually run it down until the light comes on. 1/4 tank might as well be full for me though

I try to top off my oil and fill my tank at about 1/2, it's not a bad practice lol
