Ah, this game. I remember trying to figure out how to play it to win, and never did quite figure it out other than trying to never make a move in one of the three directions.

Well, I gave in, and had a go.

Didn't win... I got up to having a 1024 and a 512, but then couldn't build my 256 >_< .

Still, I think that's the hardest part. Having a 1024, a 512, a 256, a 128, a 64, a 32, a 16 and an 8 ready to combine into 2048. At that stage, you really don't have a lot of room to manoeuvre...

Ah yes, I remember this. I found it quite easy to get to 2048; I made it to 4096 a few times; and I'm pretty sure I made it to 8192 once or twice.

I'd try for 16384, but I'm worried that I'll just get addicted again .

Once you get good at it once, it's hard to really forget how you got there. I find it pretty easy nowadays, never had much trouble after I did it the first time. But it sort of gets to the point where it's like "one more game" five or six times and the next thing you know you've wasted another hour.

Indeed it is. I don't have the hours to waste on that any more - hence why I don't want to play this very often!
