ElkArte Forum Software - Urban - April 11th, 2015

Has anyone here heard of ElkArte?

http://elkarte.net

It's a free and open source forum software that comes out the box with a lot of features! I recently installed it on one of my forums just to play with it and it is really nice! It's the only forum software, apart from MyBB, that I have installed in 3 years. Here is one of the biggest ElkArte forums: http://foreforums.com

Simple and clean looking. Not something I would be into using myself, but it does seem to be a nice piece of software that could serve its purpose well. Nice find, I have never heard of it before.

I found out about it on TAZ. I usually never go out of my comfort zone (myBB) but it looked too nice to pass up. The only problem I have with it is themes. It comes out the box really nice, with a lot of nice features, but I don't want to use the nice default theme.

Yeah, most forum softwares that aren't in the mainstream also have a hard time getting designers to make themes for their software. Designers that would know how, rarely find them, or don't find it worth their time to do so. It could be potentially lucrative for someone to corner the theme market on an up and coming software though.
