  Communism vs capitalism
Posted by: wasi90lk - July 22nd, 2013 at 6:39 PM - Forum: Poll Booth - Replies (4)

Which one do you prefer?

Both have pros and cons.

In communism, lazy people will get benefits.

In capitalism, poor will remain poor and rich will remain rich.

  Password manager
Posted by: Acko - July 22nd, 2013 at 6:03 PM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (3)

Since the UbuntuForums got hacked, I have since changed ALL of my passwords to something less guessable. Even though the passwords are indeed encrypted, if you include common words in a password, they are vulnerable to easy guessing. On top of that, instead of storing my passwords in the browser, I am now using a password manager called KeePass which stores your passwords in an encrypted database. You need to know the master password to get in there. Although this isn't that intuitive, I'd just like to point out that I do recommend using password managers instead of your browsers to store passwords. (Especially for banking, etc.). And that your passwords should be NEVER too guessable. (I have gone to the point where I even include cyrillic characters in my passwords Tongue)

Chrome changes from WebKit to Blink
Posted by: That Punk Guy - July 22nd, 2013 at 4:54 PM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (6)

Blink is the new rendering engine for Chrome, created by Google and Opera Software. Do you think Chrome will change drastically with this new engine?

I read somewhere Google removed almost 9 million lines of code from WebKit when developing Blink, so I think it may.

  SurfCat Browser
Posted by: That Punk Guy - July 22nd, 2013 at 4:32 PM - Forum: Software - Replies (15)

Description I wrote up:

Quote:SurfCat, from SurfCat Software, is a minimalistic WebKit-based web browser aimed at older PCs, and computers prone to exploits (such as being a public use computer). It is aimed to use less than 128MB of RAM for one window, and does not come with Java or Flash support for extra security. To eliminate some RAM/CPU usage, SurfCat does not support plugins either. It also has a built-in "Internet Terminal" mode, to lock down a PC to just the browser, with a password required to unlock it. SurfCat will only work on Windows for now, with Linux support coming soon. There are no plans for official Mac OS X support.

Website coming soon.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Changelog:
VERSION 1.1 RC1 (Released: TBA)
  • Simple WebKit shell with URL bar
  • Internet Terminal mode not included - yet.
  • Windows support only - Ubuntu/Debian support coming after public release.

  Should marijuana be legal?
Posted by: wasi90lk - July 22nd, 2013 at 3:08 PM - Forum: Current Events - Replies (3)

I think marijuana should be legal, even though I am not a smoker.

If cigarettes and alcohol are legal, why can't marijuana be legal?

I have always wondered that.
