So done with lockdowns. We're never going to keep it from spiking. Just work on immunity and move on.

Treat the root of the problem, not the symptom. Underlying issues cause the higher mortality rate. Fix the obesity epidemic and COVID becomes less threatening.

Austria will procure new drugs to treat Covid symptoms: Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) announced this on Wednesday after the Council of Ministers. Specifically, 80,000 doses of the drug Molnupiravir and 270,000 doses of the drug Paxlovid from the US manufacturer Pfizer are to be ordered. Their approval is expected soon. Mückstein rejected a possible lockdown extension. The aim of the hard lockdown is to relieve the intensive care units, he is "convinced that three weeks will create sufficient relief," he said.

Unfortunately here on the other side of the world things aren't looking as bright as they should be.

Omicron and Delta are set to be a double whammy here in the USA, and while I've gotten my Covid booster shot while at the doctor for my hand I'm not hopeful that this pandemic will end anytime soon.

current projections push it out another 3 years before it becomes endemic...

frankly I wish it were possible to simply create a retrovirus that causes the virus to die off and become inert but human genetic science hasn't gotten quite that far yet, close but not quite.
