The new Ryzen 7 1700K is one hell of a CPU for the price and for AMD. Totally blows my old FX-8350 out of the park, and that's without overclocking.

Hopefully these will bring Intel's prices down on the existing i7's in the coming months once we can really see how they compare overall.

HEY! That's the one I'm using now! Big Grin

I'm using the top of the line FX cpu which in linux runs incredibly fast especially with that giant radiator I've got but the new ryzen 7 and ryzen threadrippers are incredibly tempting.
makes me wonder how fast I'd be able to crack a WPA 2 passcode with a 16 core threadripper lol Big Grin

Only one way to find out... Tongue

RE: AMD or Intel - SpookyZalost - July 15th, 2017

That's more than my whole computer.

RE: AMD or Intel - SpookyZalost - July 16th, 2017

yeah I'm going to wait a bit, but that's ok, looking at it I guess my next upgrade will be dual GTX 1080's in SLI since my current setup supports it.

RE: AMD or Intel - Darth-Apple - July 19th, 2017

Gonna be one badass rig. Big Grin

RE: AMD or Intel - SpookyZalost - July 20th, 2017

especially since I run linux lol.

imagine using dual GTX 1080's for code cracking lol

Do it!

At the least, boot one up with a VM and get a feel for it. They're rather enjoyable to use.

RE: AMD or Intel - SpookyZalost - July 22nd, 2017

not to mention the boot time's are not rivaled by any OS that I've used so far from pressing the power button to seeing the desktop, and I don't have to wait for the computer to catch up as all the background processes load.
so it's almost like instant on lol

RE: AMD or Intel - Guardian - July 22nd, 2017

Yeah... almost nonexistent bootup.

Go from using Linux all the time Windows again... painful.

RE: AMD or Intel - SpookyZalost - July 23rd, 2017

it's like, Eugh what is this a 486 running windows 98?
then go back to linux and it's like 0_0 why are you so fast?!

RE: AMD or Intel - Thomas - September 23rd, 2019

Definitely Intel!

RE: AMD or Intel - SpookyZalost - September 24th, 2019

@ thomas, why intel over AMD, for you personally?

RE: AMD or Intel - Towncrafter - September 29th, 2019

"You have already voted in this poll."
I don't remember voting before, but my answer is still the same.
AMD
Don't know why I like AMD and not Intel. I've always used AMD.
