Early Hobbies - Darth-Apple - April 6th, 2020

We all have hobbies that came from deep within our childhoods.

Personally, playing guitar and programming random things (and some electronics) were mine. I still do pretty much all of it, even to this day. Gosh, I was what, in 6th grade when I picked a lot of it up. I didn't have much of a normal childhood because we were moving so much, over and over and over again. So that was my escape from the world.

What are your early hobbies that you carried with you to this day?

for me it's electronics, astronomy, and guitar.

I've loved all 3 and I've been doing guitar and astronomy since I was very little, electronics when I got into middleschool onwards.

My father had a gas station from 1960 - 2015, I grew up between petrol, tires, engine parts, cars and motorcycles, I repaired everything that had engines disassembled and made it roadworthy as a small boy, still haunts me today :-)

I used to read encyclopedias as a kid, because they were there and I didn't have much else. So, I'm still a bit of a history buff and know a little bit about a lot of it. I tend to favor historical things (video games, TV shows, etc).

Back in the day, my favourite hobbies were Lego, chess, writing, and gaming.

Apart from the gaming, those have largely fallen by the wayside in subsequent years; however, I think they've still shaped who I am today. I love strategy games and creative stuff in general, for example Tongue .

@Kyng, I loved lego Tongue when I was a kid I re-created the bridge of the USS voyager from startrek out of a set of legos in one of those random legos boxes... was kinda fun lol.

Basketball. I use to play basketball every day after school and with the neighbors. That stopped sometime in middle school.

Yeah, sounds like good fun Tongue . Meanwhile, I just stuck together a couple of baseplates, stuffed a load of minifigs on them, and called it a spaceship!!!

@Kyng didn't help that the model broke apart trying to use slipstream Rolleyes

Ouch Sad .

Well, my 'spaceships' were much less impressive - but, they at least stayed together!

Video games!

One of the first things that comes to mind is writing. I always liked writing, I always got excited in school when we could write our own stories. Even as a kid I loved to make up stories.

Like others video games as well. I grew up in a gaming family. The only one that didn't play any was my dad.
