I think not trying is worse, because in failures you at least learn something.

I'd agree. The worst failure still brings a lesson learned. Not trying brings nothing at all.

We all make mistakes. We all have failures. But by not trying you could be missing out on something just because of the FEAR of failing. So not trying is much worse.
