Gimp Brush - Help - Guardian - June 21st, 2018
I've made a brush in GIMP, but I can't get it to change the color of the brush, it just stays in the color it was made in (black).
Anyone know if I missed a step or there's a trick to getting the brush to respond to colors changes?

Not sure what you've tried, and I'm not a user of Gimp but from what I remember the toolbars are pretty similar.
Is there 2 little squares with black and white in, probably on the same toolbar as the brush tool? Like pictured https://i.imgur.com/2Z2qGDQ.png
If you have already tried that and it doesn't work, does Gimp support layer styles? You could add a color overlay to the layer you applied the brush too. This should change the color of the brush.
For layer styles it's usually double click the layer and look for "color overlay"

Edit: I don't make brushes since I usually just draw it out with my wacom tablet but having tried out this tutorial I can confirm it works with the latest ver of gimp in both windows and linux.

Yeah, changing those does nothing. I'll have to try that.

sure thing, it looks like the key is making the brush greyscale and then saving & importing it, probably something to do with how gimp overlay's the color onto the stamp/brush.
