  Overclocking your laptop?
Posted by: Vaulient - February 6th, 2019 at 9:30 AM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (3)

There are so many sources on the internet that are against overclocking your laptop GPU, saying that the GPU's aren't mean to be overclocked, however, personal comments from users recommend overclocking as it has vastly increased performance and FPS. Have you overclocked your laptop? If yes, is it true that it gives a performance increase? If not, are you against it or just rather not take the risk?

Everybody stand by for some hits to their DA. Seems to be expected drop for many.

I wonder how Makestation will fare?

  Daz 3D vs Poser
Posted by: TheJason - February 4th, 2019 at 4:42 PM - Forum: Photography & Graphics - No Replies

Which do you feel is better?  Well, as I said in other threads, I have Poser, but I haven't really tried Daz 3D - though I do use V4, a Daz character, on Poser a lot.  Anyway, nowadays, the main character is Genesis (G3 etc.) which is also from Daz.

Who can make a custom face with digital software?
Posted by: TheJason - February 4th, 2019 at 4:33 PM - Forum: Photography & Graphics - No Replies

I've been trying to do so with Poser - but it's tough.   I mean, you can change noses somewhat - but I just can't get the look I really want.  OK, what should I do?  Get a welding torch?  Huh  Smile  No, really, someone, though, has suggested zBrush - but the price tag is outrageous!

OK, I'm looking at morph or strategy to manipulate the nose etc.. on Victoria 4 (V4).

3D Digital Art - Problems with Computer Memory?
Posted by: TheJason - February 4th, 2019 at 4:31 PM - Forum: Photography & Graphics - Replies (2)

I have Poser 10 installed on an eMachines with only a few GB.  However, the problem is the memory isn't up-gradeable and I cannot due a lot of stuff without more memory.  Anyway, I've considered getting some software moving thing and moving it to my other "memory up-gradeable" HP.

OK, who has similar problems?  How did you deal with it?  Any thoughts in general?

  Plex
Posted by: Thomas - January 29th, 2019 at 2:25 AM - Forum: Technology & Hardware - Replies (6)

I recently dropped Spotify, Netflix, and Hulu and have been "developing" a media library using Plex. I bought an 8 TB external HDD, bringing my total up to 11 TB. I bought a Plex Pass which lets me access my library on the go, and also lets me share my library and access other people's libraries. Highly recommend. If any of you have a Plex Pass and are interested in doing a library share let me know.

Found this posted by the Libertarian Party of Michigan. Figured it was too good not to share, and a shame how we miss out on so much because mainstream media gets swarmed with non-news.

  Sims 3 memory limit/glitching fix
Posted by: SpookyZalost - January 8th, 2019 at 10:34 PM - Forum: Other Games - Replies (2)

I'm not sure anyone has played the sims 3 here but those that have may know that it has a pretty serious memory bug.

basically the world keeps running but the game runs out of memory and crashes after a while, usually with crashes and all sorts of weird results.

well it turns out the sims 3 is hard limited at 2 GB of ram!

there's a file in the main game folder under the sims 3/Game/Bin called Sims3.ini

within that .ini file is a line called "MemoryUSageLimit"

and it's listed as 20000000

change that first number to however many GB you want to give it, though it's highly recomended you do not give more that 50% of your total system memory.

since I have 32GB I gave it 16 gb to use and it helps a lot!

as a side note, you also need to change this line in every Expansion pack that has this Sims3.ini file, not all of them do.

good luck!
