Well... look at their track record. They always come back, but they wait like three weeks before they decide to actually do anything. Tongue
I found this too funny.
On the smfnew homepage, I clicked the "games" directory. The message I got? "Please leave : )"

looooooooooooooooool
Are you serious? Even with the Smile smiley?

Haha wow... that's too funny.
I wonder what they're doing in there, being all secretive and all... makes you question their leadership  :Smile
Probably files that they don't want you downloading. Tongue
Maybe they host their stash there? Tongue
Well they just made their entire FTP of their site basically public... just go to their homepage. They've failed. Simple Tongue
"please leave"
don't worry, everyone who had a forum on your service already has Tongue
I'm not sure if the database.xxxx.php files are useful, but couldn't you just right click and 'save target as' if you lost your database? Tongue
It doesn't store the database. It probably either stores the information about how to connect to it, or has functions in code for dealing with it. I haven't looked at it of course, but that's the way SMF does it I think.
ooooooooooooooh.... my inside email address and password thief is getting excited.. Tongue
you have a grudge against an smfnew forum or something? Tongue
Yeah seriously...

My understanding, based on the explanations from previous downtime, is that they use a separate database for each forum. That's a positive at least. (It's really inefficient to do that, but hey, it means less account theft! Tongue )

@Aco: We all do. They are pretty messed up haha. Most of us have had some pretty sour experiences with them. Tongue
lol, i'm not actually going to access these files. I was just joking Tongue
I won't either. It doesn't take a hacker to get into stuff in its current condition, but it's simply not the right thing to do, so I won't mess with any of it.
Well, if somebody does have a grudge, assuming those hold the databases, someone could REALLY mess up a site by getting the admin username and password (assuming it's not encrypted).
Passwords on SMF forums are always encrypted, so that won't be happening.
Meh, I just don't care about them. It's honestly getting to the point where it's funny to watch this train wreck unfold... Tongue
