I have been working with a couple of friends on a forum for terrier enthusiast. I would love to know what people think of it - we have been 'open for business' for 8days now.

our welcome page is here
I like the design of the site. Looks like a good forum. Big Grin
Thanks Darth_Apple - it will get better yet but I think we have made a reasonable start. The little dog on our logo belongs to one of our members, the video in the welcome is the same dog

I was really wowed by what you have done to this site since I last saw it!

A.xx
EDIT: Apparently BBcode doesn't work in posts for some reason. I'll take a look at that very soon.

Thanks, glad to have you back in the community. Big Grin
I think your forum has potential although I dislike the forum software you're using.

Thank you for the comment re potential - we are all trying our best we have currently achieved 211 Threads and 2,788 Posts which seems pretty reasonable considering we have been open fr less than 3wk and only have 37 members as yet.

I know that people like to complain about vB but I am enjoying working with it - it was all part of an offer that I just couldn't refuse.

Thanks D-A, I have had a lot of help from Rhens and Mike, who set it up for me and some very good friends (both from the old forum that died and real life) have gone out of their way to help me. I can't believe how lucky I am.

I am also putting a huge amount of personal time into it both on the forum and in encouraging people to contribute behind the scenes - eg if someone puts something on FB I will ask them if they would mind posting it on the forum as well or instead.

Mike has set up a 'newsbot' who finds stuff which we then use in ways to make relevant to what we are doing. It is sometimes painstaking work but I hope it will prove worthwhile. To give you an example the bot found a podcast about running with your dog. Right near the end it mentioned that he had a terrier so I ran the story as being by a terrier owner who also had the qualifications. Just saying all this in case it may help someone else.

There is no doubt that it is hard work and I am often up into the early hours but it is also exciting to see something come out of nothing.

Ah, nice. The bot idea is very interesting. Big Grin
