That's a very strange bug. I noticed some other odd things about the memberlist a couple of days ago, I'll look into it right away.
Issue is fixed. Turned out to be some misconfigured usergroups. It was affecting active contributors of the site, which meant that a lot of people were missing from the memberlist.
Thank you for reporting this, probably would have taken us a while to catch it otherwise!
