With the decrease in popularity between Windows 7 and Windows 8, it seems Microsoft is releasing Windows 8.1 (AKA Windows blue) this summer to fix some of things people didn't like about Windows 8. They haven't disclosed much information yet, but one of the rumored improvements is the return of the start button. Personally, I hope Windows 8.1 fixes more than just that, but I will look forward to the return of the start button, for sure.

I'll give it a go... in a VM. I already sabotaged my computer with the slime that is Windows 8.. and I don't plan to put Windows back on it at all (I lost my 7 disk, XP is too old but I love it) until some major changes are made. I love Linux.

well said. I agree, 100%
I'm probably going to stay away. I adopted W7 only at the tail end of 2011 so I'm not done with it yet. Plus it's great, so why bother changing?
Indeed. If you like your OS, don't upgrade it unless you have to. Too much trouble. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I agree. Personally, I'm pretty happy with Windows 7, and until I get a new computer, I don't plan on upgrading.
Win7 is fine for me! I disagree in saying that WinXP is better than 7 but I have been using 7 for so long XP seems outdated and old. Never got into Linux and I don't think I will ever need to change from Win7 until another OS for desktops comes out (if ever).ÂÂ
I will be using 7 for a long time, its the best OS out there right now.
Agreed. 8 to me, even with a big update, is still a mess
8 would be good for one of those touch computers/laptops. Or tablet, as mentioned.
Only problem with windows on a tablet is *cough,*cough* RAM and disk space use
5 years later, I'm still using windows 8.1/blue and never upgraded to 10, I dual boot it with a heavily customized debian build for compatibility reasons and have no complaints.
