1.May Day is called Labor Day, Labor Movement Day, International Working Class Struggle Day or May Day. It is a public holiday in Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium, parts of Switzerland and many other countries.

We have a similar one in Canada called Labour Day, a holiday to celebrate the same thing in terms of labour rights, but we celebrate it the first Monday of September, right before school starts.
But the Polish side of my family is celebrating May Day today as well, even mom was singing the song today this morning.

So school starts on Tuesday for most grade schools, and for us University students, on the Wednesday after.
