Interesting, right after we converted to MyBB.
Very interesting. I'm very glad we switched to MYBB then haha.
The hacking was not caused by security loophole with SMF, hackers gained access to one of the admin's passwords and went through that.
Note: thread moved to internet discussion from web design.
Thanks for moving the thread.
That does make me feel a little better about SMF. Hopefully we don't have issues like that here at Makestation.
Change your password often would be my advice. And don't use the same one in multiple places. Each site I'm admin at I have a different password.
I'm gonna need one of those password managers soon haha.
No kidding. Anything sensitive gets a unique password for me.
Yeah, I almost turned this innocent thread into SMF-hate thread because of misinformation. My bad
Haha we already have enough of those for 000webhost and SMFnew.
On topic, I wonder how the hacker got access to the admin's password? Surely he couldn't simply have used the forgot password button. (Of course, this also could be related to the UbuntuForums incident).
I am currently using SMF board, I hope nothing will happen to my forum.
I may switch to MyBB.

I vaguely remembering reading that it was related.
