Did any of our linux users learn shell or not? I'm considering learning it, as it looks like it can make my life a whole lot easier. (though I do know how to sudo rm rf /*
)

Many more recent linux distributions have made it possible to do basic things without the shell, but ultimately no matter how user friendly the distribution is, the shell is a vital part of Linux. I'd recommend learning it if you're seriously considering using Linux for your day-to-day computing.
It's also very helpful if you ever need to set up servers, etc...
