Haha Apple Silicon. Their press release doesn't even mention ARM.

OS 11 looks just like iPad.

That Shadow of the Tomb Raider gameplay they ran during the presentation looked like it was running in 1080p.

It baffles me that Apple is going all in on Metal instead of going with Vulkan like literally everyone else.
There has been a lot of mystery behind all of it for a while. Metal seemed like a weird decision to me even back in the day. It broke compatibility with a lot of macs and applications even a couple years back. And now it hasn't even really paid off yet.

Because the press are stupid. Those who know, don't need a presser to tell them. Those that don't really don't need a presser to tell them because they don't have any idea about tech.
What do you guys think about their switch from Intel?

I’m excited about it personally, so long as the emulation is still workable for at least a few years. Rosetta didn’t last very long last time they switched architectures, and within a few years the PowerPC based ones were made obsolete by a lack of Mac OS updates for them.
I'm not so knowledgeable about this kind of thing so in layman's terms, what do the changes mean for me as a consumer?

Apple’s ARM chips are quite a bit faster than Intel’s, and require less power as well. The new macs will be faster and will have better battery life as well. However, apps will need to be repackaged/recompiled by the developers for them to be able to take advantage of the performance improvements. The emulation later will likely run existing applications more slowly than the current Intel chips are able to.
