Personally, I remember a while back when I posted hundreds of math explanations to help some who were less advanced in math on an education "forum," only to later find that many of my very lengthy explanations that were popular in the community were plagiarized by a couple of members in the community who gave no credit whatsoever to me for the many long hours I spent. Needless to say, I was frustrated and took it to the website's administrators, who did nothing basically nothing about it. Ever since, I've been more careful to protect my own work.

Has anyone here had a similar experience with work being plagiarized by someone?
I had some custom creations for The Sims plagirized... people re-uploaded them with minor (ie replaced a chair or two) modifications and claimed it as their own. Luckily they never proved as popular as mine. Not as big a deal as having math equations plagirized, but frustrating nonetheless.
Haha I never created math equations. I just explained concepts to them by breaking them down a little more. I was just good at making math seem simple at the time. Tongue

Were you able to talk to an admin about your custom Sims creations being plagiarized?
It was on the official website, so I reported them several times. Went nowhere.
It seems like it's hard to really get the attention with the administration for those kinds of things. I usually try to avoid getting into the public eye about that stuff though. A little of your work being stolen is much better than losing your reputation.
Yeah, I had some of my posts copy-pasted to other forums when I used to work as a paid content writer. I was quite upset and reported the incident to said forums' administrator, telling them that if the plagiarizing continues, I will report them to the hosting company that hosted them. It stopped after a few days. I'm not sure if the hosting company would have done anything about it or not, but the threat seemed to have scared the admin...

I know the feeling. I had to deal with a similar situation a while back, and it's a frustrating thing to deal with for sure.

I've never really understood the purpose in plagiarism with forum content anyway. Google heavily penalizes content that it already recognizes, so it doesn't do much to bring additional traffic to a website.
