Personally, I keep up with the news primarily through social media, since TV news is just plain depressing half the time. I don't really mind reading the newspaper, but half of it is stuff I don't need to know either or some other overly detailed documentary of a criminal's jail sentence. Tongue

How much do you keep up with the news? Be sure to vote in the poll!
I don't watch TV news. Just a bunch of sensationalism and bias. Sick of it.
I primarily keep up with news through social media.
Fox News. Unfair and Unbalanced Wink
I watch the evening local news fairly regularly, as well as the national news. For that I usually switch between CTV News Channel or CBC News Network. I also use news websites, like the online versions of the stations I just mentioned. That's a fairly convenient way to get news because you get the news you want fairly easily.
When I read my news, I usually skim through it fairly quickly since I won't read everything. It's a nice way to get news though, since you can choose what you actually want to read while still knowing what's generally going on.
I often find myself laughing at some of the comments on news stories. Some are well thought out, even if I don't agree with what they're saying. Some are just... yea. Tongue
Agreed. Often people assume that they know everything about the situation as well, and comments about situations involving people especially can be a little depressing to read.
our local Fox station has viewer's voice.. basically what they do is have people send them an email regarding their thoughts about news stories that they do and the anchors  usually will try to, and only succeed half the time, at rendering their comments invalid. Most are regarding the station itself, for instance one of the anchors is always putting his foot in his mouth and a lot of people have had something to say about it. But my question is, do people not have anything better to do with their precious time than to bother commenting on news stories?

That said I hate all local news more than national news... :/
I get a kick out of some of the comments. Honestly I probably shouldn't, but I just can't help but laugh when I see some of the outrageous comments people think are serious.
Only if something happens where I live, cause Carmel has such low crime and excellent stuff, nothing interesting happens. D:

Oh and the weather too, I ignore the stores that aren't news.
There's typically no actually interesting news. It's the exact same thing with slightly different settings. "someone was shot, someone was carjacked" etc
I wouldn't say that there's no interesting news, but certainly 3/4 of it is stuff I don't really care about. That's why I like reading the newspaper. I can just skip over the stuff I don't want to read. Tongue
News? What's that? Tongue
Oh, you mean those annoying people at 6 and 10 who act smart but yet are the stupidest people alive?
That was sarcasm.

In truth, I find it easier not knowing what's going on. If something major happens people will be talking about it and if I'm interested in finding out what then I'll search for it on internet.
Agreed. To most of the crazy news that comes on nowadays, I just say "ignorance is bliss" Tongue
That sounds more like a FOX or CNN motto Wink
Don't get me started on CNN. They are the worst of all offenders. Tongue
Our local anchors on one specific station are actually pretty good, some of the other stations though, I seriously question their choices. I'm sure they're nice people, but the way they present news just bugs me. But to each their own, the news studios at those stations still run so obviously it doesn't bug everyone.
I think local news tends to be unbiased and true, however national tv is corrupt.
